Mud ~ Too Many Flaws

Hi all. Last night I watched 'Mud'. I was quite excited for this movie, I even  blogged about the trailer.  Sadly, the movie didn't quite stand up to the trailer. It's a very strange situation. It's not that it wasn't good, it's that there was too much bad. A shame really. I'm going to start with the good things. The acting, especially McConaughey, was impressive to say the least. He was gritty and pensive. Surprisingly, he was only shirtless for maybe 5-10 minutes of the film! No, in all seriousness, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about McConaughey's performance. Good job buddy! Frankly, most all the technical aspects of 'Mud' are great. Cinematography, costumes, and sets etc. It's this fact, the fact that is was so well done in most ways, that makes it such a terrible shame to have its two flaws. Told you so. The two flaws! (Dramatic music) Flaw number one! The completely unnecessary presence of filth in this movie. By...

Mud

Hello, movie people! It is time for another look into the future of cinema! Today we have the new Mathew McConaughey movie, 'Mud'. Let's do trailer first, discussion after. If this movie had come out two or three years ago I would have been less interested than I am now. The reason is Matthew McConaughey. I feel like he has been putting out better and better performances and is proving himself a capable actor. Three years ago I wouldn't have agreed with that statement. Reese Witherspoon, on the other hand, has a tendency to be a bit annoying but it appears that her character is a bit annoying too so that will probably work out in her favor! As for the story, I think it will at least be intriguing and interesting, at most I think it will be gripping and intense! I don't know about you, but those are all good adjectives for me. I guess that means that I think this will be a good movie! I'm a little concerned that maybe the trailer showed a bit too much. A li...

'B' and 'B'

'Brave' and 'Bernie'! Two movies that are similar in no way. Except, of course, they both start with 'B' and they have both been nominated for awards this year. As I'm sure you can guess, I am very excited about awards season. I am developing a mild case of Oscar frenzy. I want my favorites to win! In preparation, naturally, I have been watching a lot of the movies I have seen pop up at the awards shows that have already happened. I would have gotten around to them eventually, but the timing is too good! First is 'Brave'! I have wanted to see this movie since the moment I heard is was going to exist. I love Disney-Pixar and their movies together. I'm a child at heart and I'm not sorry! Netflix took its sweet time getting 'Brave' sent to my mailbox but I finally saw it.  Boy was it more then I ever expected! I hadn't really looked into it that much. I saw the words Pixar and I knew I would watch it so there wasn't any reason ...
