I have found two trailers that intrigue me enough to write about them. I'm not sure whether they will be good but I'm just so curious about them!
First we have 'Warm Bodies'. Let's watch the trailer first.
So, before I get started, I want to say that I have a horrible fear of zombies. I have ever since I was a little kid. Over time I have tried to face my fear to cure myself with 'Shawn of the Dead' and 'Zombieland'. I thought that if I saw the funniest ones I might get braver. Honestly, I'm still freaked out about them, so the fact that I am considering this movie is a really big deal! Okay, back to business. My first though is, "Summit is making this? So they ran out of vampire and werewolf love stories so now we are trying zombies on for size?" Not the best impression though soon I am intrigued. The presence of John Malkovich is encouraging, but his movies aren't always gold. Admit it though, you're curious. I'm hoping this will be a well made zombie comedy that borders on parody! I think that we will have to wait and see but I do have a good feeling about it. Chances are it's not going to be your new favorite movie but I'm thinking it will be overall enjoyable. I hope!
Second, there is 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters'. Jeremy Renner as Hansel makes me excited for the movie. Memories of that Hugh Jackman movie 'Van Helsing' make me worried *shudders*. I feel like these kinds of movies always walk a very delicate balance between awesomely aged for adults and ridiculously overdone and stupid. The one scene in the trailer when you see an aerial view of a crossbow that clicks and spins to what appears to be a crossbow that can shoot in three directions is a bad sign. Once they start into the slightly exaggerated weapons department it seems like the other horrible staples of these kinds of films soon follow. Of course I hope that they just have a believability issue and leave it at that. I can accept that for this kind of thing. I feel like this is going to be one of those movies where I know how it could be made well but I fear that it won't be. I hope I'm wrong and that we find a legit action flick!
So there we have it. Two movies that could swing either way. Let's cross our fingers for a good final product!
UPDATE: I have since seen 'Warm Bodies' and written a review.
