Jack The Giant Slayer ~ Better Than I Expected

Well, I am home safe and sound from my trip! My in flight movie was 'Jack the Giant Slayer' and seeing as how I  recommended it in a previous post  I thought it best to do a review. This movie was fun, fun, and fun! Adventure and a bit of suspense with enough wit and comedy to make it a charming film. It is not silly or childish, which I incredibly appreciate. ( Especially after the great disappointment of  'Oz the Great and Powerful' )  If anything, it was a bit more mature then I expected! There was a lot more death and dismemberment then I thought there would be. It was personal deaths as well, characters you know being eaten 'Jurassic Park' style. I just have to touch on Nicholas Hoult, the actor who played Jack. I am seriously starting to love this guy! I mean, I've known about his since he was a kid, and he has always had potential. Now he is really doing great! I just saw him a few months ago in  'Warm Bodies' . Now having seen two mov...

Warm Bodies

Hello again! Today I am going to talk about 'Warm Bodies'. I watched this movie in the theatre yesterday and was overjoyed at what I saw! As you may remember, I wrote about the trailer a little while ago. I'm glad to say that my good impressions of the trailer were more than accurate. I adored this movie! No joke! Yes, I have a paralyzing fear of zombies, but this movie has SO LITTLE zombie violence that I was able to forget about the fact that the main character was, in fact, dead. Just in case you don't know what the heck I am talking about, 'Warm Bodies' is a zombie comedy where a young male zombie feels some pity or sadness on a young girl while massacring her friends. He than rescues the girl from certain death. The unlikely pair come to understand each other and many adventures follow. The idea is that the zombie is regaining his human emotions and curing himself, and the cure is capable of spreading. All you need is love right? Wasn't he adorab...

Jack the Giant Slayer

Hello everyone! Today's point of interest is 'Jack the Giant Slayer'! If you've read my  previous post  you'll know a bit of how I feel about these kinds of movies. Generally speaking, when Hollywood takes classic children's stories and tries to make them hardcore they fail. Not always, mind you! I am looking at this one for two reasons: Ewan McGregor, and the fact that the trailer actually looks kinda good. Let's look at the trailer before I go any farther. Not bad right? It's not taking itself too seriously and I also don't see signs of EXTREME silliness. Which is good. The dialog sounds whitty and the overall look is charming and whimsical. I love Ewan McGregor's hair, it's kinda Pompadour-y. McGregor's character looks hilarious: The silly, overconfident knight in shining armor. I may be biased, I have always favored him as an actor. Also, we have Stanley Tucci, whose movies I haven't always loved but his characters have alwa...
