Silver Linings Playbook

I finally got around to seeing 'Silver Linings Playbook'! I know that I am incredibly behind the curve on this one. I don't care though! I never see movies in the theatre when they are 'R' for nakedness. It's just too awkward. Anyway, I feel like it would be redundant for me to talk about how great the story and acting are. I mean, just look at how many awards it won. That being said, I do have some things I would like to go over. Firstly, I know a lot of people who have been on the fence about watching this movie because of content. Watch it. I would say that someone over 15 (and maybe have them look away at one key scene) should be able to handle this movie. There are a lot of 'F' words. 75 in fact, according to IMDB. They are sprinkled evenly throughout the entire movie so there is no escaping it. The nudity really isn't that bad. It's in a flashback. You see a naked woman from behind through a mildly foggy glass shower. You also see her b

'The Book Thief' and 'The Monuments Men'

Hello everyone! Today I have two movies that are both very different and incredibly similar. They are both set during WWII. One is set within Nazi Germany and the other is set in Germany's path of conquest. I am going to start with 'The Book Thief' and save my favorite for last. Trailer first shall we? It looks SO intriguing! Every story becomes ten times more intense when it is set in Germany during WWII. We have all the stresses of adoption plus the fact that they are harbouring a Jewish man. I must say, the first thing that I notice is Geoffrey Rush. That man has mad acting skills and he usually chooses really good scripts. It looks good and I am in the mood for a movie like this to come out. Something with a lot of heart. I'm excited! Next we have 'The Monuments Men'. A movie about the men who tried to preserve as much history and art as possible across Europe before Hitler got there and destroyed it all. Unsung heroes if you ask me. This loo

Jack The Giant Slayer ~ Better Than I Expected

Well, I am home safe and sound from my trip! My in flight movie was 'Jack the Giant Slayer' and seeing as how I  recommended it in a previous post  I thought it best to do a review. This movie was fun, fun, and fun! Adventure and a bit of suspense with enough wit and comedy to make it a charming film. It is not silly or childish, which I incredibly appreciate. ( Especially after the great disappointment of  'Oz the Great and Powerful' )  If anything, it was a bit more mature then I expected! There was a lot more death and dismemberment then I thought there would be. It was personal deaths as well, characters you know being eaten 'Jurassic Park' style. I just have to touch on Nicholas Hoult, the actor who played Jack. I am seriously starting to love this guy! I mean, I've known about his since he was a kid, and he has always had potential. Now he is really doing great! I just saw him a few months ago in  'Warm Bodies' . Now having seen two mov

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty

Hi All. I have quite the unique trailer this week. At least I think so. It's called 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty'. Here we go! Okay, so I am totally in love with the idea of this movie. An average office worker who has a vivid, and adventurous, imagination who then has to go on a real exploit? This is right up my alley. Seriously! On top of that the cinematography looks really cool. They are really utilizing the fact that they are in his imagination. I love it! Aww, Christmas Day? Cute. :) The possible downside is Ben Stiller. Sometimes I can really despise the guy, but he can surprise me too. I think that this is quite a bit more serious then his usual work, and I like that. It's an adventure with a meaning! Also, some part of me can respect Stiller a little more now that he's aged a bit. I have a lot of hope for him in this part. As for the plot itself, I haven't read the original short story. Yet. I think I might just have too. I am incredibly

Mr. Morgan's Last Love

Hello everyone! I have found a delightful yet probably quite sad trailer for today. It is staring one of my favorite actors, Sir Michael Caine. Here is the trailer. It's set in Paris and it's about love, loss, and new friendship. I love it! The tears will fall, but I'm sure there will be plenty of smiles as well. I just get the feeling that when the movie fades to black, I will be happy. That's the mark of a good film, I think. What do you think? Yay or nay from you? Also, a brief side note. I am currently adventuring around the U.K. at the moment. Because of this my posts will be strictly once a week until I return home. Just a few weeks and then my posting will become more frequent. If anyone is interested, I can do a brief post about my trip once I return. All you have to do is ask! I'll be back in a week with another post! Talk to you then.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

So, I normally shy away from Teen Pop Fiction, especially when it's been turned into a movie. This time I didn't. I was curious about 'The Hunger Games' series so I read them, then I saw the first movie. I could write an incredibly massive post just about my issues with the writing style of the book, but I won't. You're welcome. Right now, this post, is just about the trailer and expectations for the second film. Let's look at the trailer shall we? I'm sorry but it looks good! I know that the story is better in 'Catching Fire'. It's more revolution, political drama, and behind the scenes finagling. I think it's safe to say that this is going to be an exciting, engrossing movie that will not disappoint. I'm weirdly excited for it!
